I PASSED MY DRIVING TEST | 2018

Property of Jaydee Kelly.

I HAVE FINALLY PASSED MY DRIVING TEST. If you read my January favourites you'd know that it took a while for me to get to this stage. The process of getting my driving certificate/license was so overwhelming and very difficult.
So if being anxious/nervous on the day of your test wasn't bad enough, having nasty examiners made it worse entirely. My first test - the examiner was a complete A-hole (just to put it nicely) and failed me for the most ridiculous things. I felt like giving up there and then because it was embarrassing having to go through all that stress for the examiner to be malicious, costing me my license.
That didn't stop me; after rebooking another test I was still a nervous wreck and it showed within my driving. I felt sick to my stomach hearing the words "Sorry that you haven't passed" for the second time and cried all the way home thinking "will I ever get through?" - it's hard especially when your family are first/second time passed & then there's me who feels like a complete failure. Although, my mum and step-dad supported me 100%, giving me hugs and encouraging me to give it another go.
22nd February 2018 - Three years ago my Aunty lost her battle with Cancer, it still doesn't feel real. So to have my driving test on this day, made me feel so emotional and very very anxious. This may sound odd, but it's like she was there to hold my hand throughout my test & I PASSED, I passed this driving malarky with flying colours and held back my tears because it was such a special moment to have passed on my Aunty's anniversary... still so surreal and it makes me beyond happy to know the 22nd February will always be a special day to me, to remember a beautiful woman and celebrating the fact I made her extremely proud, alongside my mum who nearly cried and came to find me just to congratulate me haha. It's definitely a day to remember and to finally say I'm no longer a learner driver is giving me goosebumps. My examiner was so lovely and I can't thank her enough for making this day more special. It was worth going through hell with my driving test(s) just to have this memory. Safe to say I didn't nor will I ever take it for granted.

ADVICE...

If you're worried about passing the first time, don't be. You'll pass when you are ready whether that's the first time, fifth time or tenth time... you will get there. Please don't put pressure on yourself just because friends and family have passed the first time. Be proud of your achievements because at the end of the day; A PASS IS A PASS and nobody cares how many attempts it took. If they do, they aren't worth being around.

GOOD LUCK TO ANYONE GOING IN FOR THEIR TEST - YOU GOT THIS! :)

2018 Blogging Goals

I've been blogging for around 3 years now, on and off. My love/hate relationship with my blog has finally paid off. Suppose you can say it's been hit and miss for the last couple of years. Alongside a full-time job, it's difficult to remain upbeat and excited about your content when all you want to do is sleep and unwind after a long shift. That was my life for the last year and a half and since the back end of last year, it all changed & I had more time to post the content that inspired me to write.

 * Property of Jaydee Kelly *

Blogging is my escape, from everything going on in life. I love being able to sit down at my laptop and put my all into content for this blog. Some posts don't make the final cut but it's nice to look back on, giving myself ideas of where to improve or how I can develop my writing style into something more promising. This blog began in 2015 - it was a distraction from my depression while in the second year at University. Safe to say not much content was produced until my final year studying but even then it suffered.

Lets fast forward to now... Recently my blog has been my fresh start to expressing my love for writing and content I love reading from other people - of course, putting my own spin on things. I love it. Although it's a case of still finding a rhythm for my little platform, it's a nice learning curve.

WHAT MY GOALS FOR MY BLOG ARE...
  • Create exciting content - Recently, I've decided to keep my blog about a bit of everything, under the 'Lifestyle' tab. If you can't use your platform to express yourself and what you have experienced, loved, cooked, made or bought etc. then what can you use it for? The aim of my content is so my audience can get to know me through what I choose to post. From a range of topics; Travel, Beauty items, haircare, film and tv, books, music, food, fitness etc. You name it, It'll make an appearance on here eventually. Heres to an exciting blogging year!!
  • Make a difference - Whether that's working alongside a charity or giving back to those on the streets; I want to strive to make a difference while documenting it all on here. Not for "bragging" material, just because the world needs more love and inspiration than the controversy it's at now.
  • Meet new people - It would be nice to meet other bloggers and share experiences, learn new things and inspire one another to be the best we can be. I'm all for making new friends and meeting new people along a new journey and I'd love to have a few close friends who share the same ambitions as me with blogging and want to see the world.
  • Travel - As someone who has never left the U.K I would love to travel and blog my experiences! It's a promising goal to do something so creative and share the world through my eyes on here.
  • Expanding opportunities; Working alongside NEW & Favourite brands - The feeling of being able to work with a brand that I adore literally gives me goosebumps. For me, my biggest goal is to work alongside The Bodyshop and create some upbeat content on here, vlog an experience of working with them & produce something so exciting. A girl can dream, right?
  • Be a full-time blogger - This is my ultimate dream. I decided to make my blog more lifestyle as it's full of a range of things that I personally love & would like to engage other people in. To know that my content is making someone's day or any advice I post is helping at least one person, will mean the absolute world to me. It's nice knowing there are people out there that support your rambles and like the content you post. Very motivating!

What are your goals for blogging this year?

January Favourites & What I've been up to | 2018

Well, it's certainly been a while since I've featured a monthly favourites post. Thought I'd start my new year off right, by sharing what I have been loving & share a little update on the crazy life I call my own. Most of what I have been loving is from Christmas, just goes to show how the little things in life make the world a happier place.

Victoria Secret Underwear - I guess you can say my Victoria's Secret virginity is long gone. Definitely, the most comfortable pieces I have ever worn, no joke. My boyfriend treated me to some gorgeous underwear at Christmas and let me tell you, he has good taste. I won't show the actual underwear as they're in the washing pile; to be washed. But I can't swear by them enough. Not usually one for this type of brand but since being introduced, I want more.

"You look beautiful today" Home decoration - My mum and stepdad got this for me and my boyfriend for when was moving house so we could add a positive spin to the new flat. Always have loved little pick me ups like this because even after a crap day this lifts me up. Personal opinion; I genuinely think everyone needs a little positive decoration within their home, makes it cosier. My boyfriend and I still need to add things to the walls so this beautiful decoration can have its own little place. Literally obsessed with it, my parents are definitely the cutest!

Batiste Dry Shampoo and Conditioner - I've always loved dry shampoo's to an extent, apart from when my last one tried to damage my hair, oops! However, having a 2 in 1 dry shampoo/conditioner is like the heaven gates opening with that classical music. My hair loves the formula of this little baby, and whenever I'm having an "I can't be bothered to wash my hair" day, I reach for this. I would highly recommend anyone to use it; you can get it here.

Beauty Formulas with activated Charcoal Detox facial wipes - Wouldn't at all surprise me if these have been featured in another favourites post of mine, but it's no biggie as I love them. My skin is very temperamental and each day is never the same. If you've read my posts before you will know that anything charcoal is ultimately going to be a godsend for my skin. That being said, it was a huge success and quite frankly, couldn't be happier. It helps to remove the build-up of oils and other impurities within your skin but it leaves your skin feeling clean, looking fresh and radiant. You can find them here.

"Leave a little sparkle, whenever you go" Home Decoration - If this isn't a motto in life to follow then I don't know what is. Again, my parents got me this sparkly bundle of joy for Christmas and as soon as I laid eyes on it, it made me excited for my new flat. I can't wait to add it to the walls or put it on my makeup stand in the bedroom as it's just so lovely and the quote itself keeps me positive on very hard, anxious days.

" J " Makeup bag My boyfriends family got me this makeup bag and I've been getting so much use out of it, especially when I moved to my mums for 2 weeks until my new place was sorted, taking my makeup to my boyfriend's house at the time was so much easier. It fits all my makeup in it and soon I'll hopefully get round to a what's in my makeup bag blog post :)

Leaf "greek style" ring - If you're from the UK, go to the shop called "Select". It is by far my ultimate favourite clothing store alongside Primark. Recently, I was in there with my boyfriend and I spotted this ring, instantly falling in love with it & girls, as you know that's so easily done. It was on sale too at £2 reduced from £4 or £6 I think, definite bargain! Always getting so much wear from it and one of the best pieces of jewellery that are in my collection.

Wonder candle holder - Yano when you're shopping for Christmas presents & you're not meant to be spending money on yourself but you see something and are like "I know someone who would love that, meeee" no? just me then haha. ANYWAYS, I saw this candle holder and instantly needed it for my new flat. ok, didn't quite need it but you get my gist. It was reduced in a Christmassy sale for £3 and it came with a Black Cherry candle so I was happy dancing all the way to the checkout.

"Golddigga" Just Pink Perfume - This is more or less my go-to perfume every single day. It's a sweet but not over the top kind of scent. When wearing it, I get so many compliments & it's got that addictive smell, I can't really describe it but if you have a perfume or spray that you can't live without then you'll know what I mean. I've had this for a while and when I use it all, it'll be a sad day as I have sooooo much perfume that needs using. A post will follow soon :)

Lonsdale London Sports Bras - If you read my favourites post from 2015 (yes, that long ago) you'll know I got new sports bra's for when I had a personal trainer. They lasted me 3 years? Such amazing quality that I got two more new ones recently. Sports direct have the best sports bra's & they are so comfortable. Lonsdale sports bras for me help keep me supported and "all in" to put it one way, but I can't recommend them enough & they are very affordable. Find them here

Studio London Brush set - I love new brushes, especially when they're super soft and glide across your face so elegantly. Ok, so I may be exaggerating but who cares. I received these a gift for Christmas and have been using them alongside my real techniques brushes ever since. Growing up I was never into doing my makeup, better yet - never knew how to use brushes until YouTube became what it is today. Ever since it's like my little collection is growing ever so slightly & that's fine with me.

Joe Wicks "Lean in 15" Cook Book - I always say that tomorrow will be the day my eating habits change and most of the time it fails. Although this book is my ultimate inspiration to stay motivated and eat clean. IT HAS WORKED but I still haven't cooked a full meal from this book but, I have eaten healthy... ish haha. Nah, I've selected out a few recipes for me and my boyfriend to try and we're beyond excited to stick to a good lifestyle.

WHAT HAVE I BEEN UP TO THROUGHOUT JANUARY?

If you've made it this far, well done for not falling asleep haha. January was such a good month, so many exciting things happened and what better way to share it than on here.

  • I finally moved to Sheffield with my boyfriend and settled into our first flat together. It's been a crazy busy experience and we step on each other's toes which is common first time living together - But I live with my best friend and couldn't be happier. Although he's glued to the PS4 and acts like a manchild when he loses a game hahaha!
  • Started planning posts for my blog - successful so far on top of a full-time job. Although, I haven't posted frequently, however, I have finally found my feet and decided to post content that I like reading / like to see in the blogging world.
  • Failed a driving test - Screw what people say, this is the real world we live in. If you pass the first time, that's fine. If you don't, that's fine too. It's not about who can pass what first time or whatever, it's about how you get back up from being told no or not getting it the first time. Unfortunately, this test occurred twice for me and both times I screwed up. My last test - I was so close but didn't change lanes on a dual carriageway and my certificate went bye bye. But that's ok because I will learn from this and nail it next time.
  • Watched "The Greatest Showman" - Not one for musicals but this film is insane. I plan to do a separate post for this film so I won't give anything away. Just please watch it you will not be disappointed. I took my boyfriend to see it and he hates musicals lol, but he is obsessed with this one & even has the playlist Spotify it's that good.
I also became an adult, signing up for the doctors and dentist instead of making my mum ring up on my behalf haha. Jokes aside, I've loved the first month of January - loved so many things, made new memories and stayed positive/happy along the way :) Even got two new diaries to pencil in any plans I have, keep on track of bills and work. The best way for sure to stay organised.

WHAT DID YOU ENJOY ABOUT JANUARY?

My Top 10 Favourite Netflix T.V Shows | 2018

Friends - I mean, who doesn't love it? it's the best T.V show out there, fact. The amount of success this show has got since 1994 is insane. When growing up, I discovered my mum was a huge fan of the show and watched it with her. Before I knew it, the one-liners were stuck in my head, I'd recite every single scene to detail. Fell in love with the characters and their personalities, and the overall friendship the group had. There'd be moments I'd be laughing at the T.V and causing havoc in the living room, to crying at the most beloved scene in the show, * spoiler alert * where Rachel got off the plane. If you've not cried at that, you're not human.

How To Get Away With Murder - I am profoundly lost for words, which is rare for me watching any T.V series. Shocked is an understatement, I'll elaborate as to why. Shonda Rhimes, an amazing writer for this show and the incredible Greys Anatomy. Although, one thing that really baffles me with any scriptwriter is when they kill off the best characters that we have grown to love. I can't really speak as a former scriptwriter I enjoyed getting my tutors at Uni used to my characters within the storyline and then kill them off. I guess it's just a thing that happens in the writing world but Shonda Rhimes does it WAAAAAY too much, like stop now, please. Sorry if this is a spoiler but the main character Wes, was who in my opinion, the story was alternatively revolved around so why would you kill him off? it's all unfolding and I'm ultimately shocked and did not see the twist coming!

Gossip Girl - From Chuck and Blair's romance to Serena's wild antics and endless boyfriends to Jenny growing into a typical badass to Nate being as gorgeous as ever, Gossip girl is one of the best teen demographic T.V shows I've watched in a very long time. If you haven't watched it, you have not lived. Drama, drama and more drama is what is designed for the viewers to become obsessed and let me tell you, once you are hooked... there's no going back. Along with some stereotypical storylines, I think it's quite good for people in their teens and young adults to watch it, it's quite eye-opening. This is one of my favourite tv series and I'm so angry with Netflix because, on Feb 14, they are taking it off. W H Y?!  so out of order, ha. On a serious note, do watch it because if you love the idea of falling in love with the series, characters and storylines then you will not be disappointed.

Suits - What can I say... if you're obsessed with law and criminal based scenarios then give this little number a watch. Harvey and Mike are literally the best 'bro' duo and their level of banter is quality. The structure of the storyline is solid and quite frankly, I wish I could perfect a T.V series this well put together, Aaron Korsh and David Bartis have created a masterpiece for sure. Law is an interesting topic especially throughout Suits when it's showing you the lengths they go to, to not only protect their own but also do whatever it takes to be the best. I love it, so enticing and addictive. I don't particularly have a favourite scene as the whole 7 seasons leave me in awe.
* Spoiler Alert * Suits won't be the same without Megan Markle or Partick Adams but I'm super stoked to see whats in store for the show next.

The Vampire Diaries - Never used to be a fan of vampire-related content but after watching the first season of this T.V series, it's hard to not watch more. Helena and Stefan are cute but I'm more of a Damon fan, more because I like the villainy types in these types of genres. I still have loads to watch but this is becoming an all-time favourite. Very interested to get past season 3 and fall more in love. Helena (Nina Dobrev) is a gorgeous, super talented woman and I just love her. I think she plays her role incredibly well alongside the role of Katherine, it's like watching her alter ego and it's great.

Lady Gaga - Five Foot Two - Never really been a big fan of Lady Gaga, I'm still not. However, after watching this show of her life, I've gained so much respect for her. It takes a strong individual to put out there raw content of their struggles through private life and career aspects, break up, songwriting inspirations, media manipulations etc. It's remarkably inspiring to see how someone so iconic deals with so much. Also, hearing about Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney splitting had me so sad, they were honestly so fitting. But, the heart wants what it wants. I'd recommend anyone to watch this, it's so good and inspired me to do more to chase my aspirations.

Homeland - I'm still only on season one for this show but I have become so obsessed with it, it's rather unhealthy. I've always loved crime-related T.V shows, in fact when studying Film and Television, I took a CRIME T.V genre and it was literally in my element of interest. I'm still trying to pinpoint and follow Homeland and what I can gather from it is awesome so far. I like how this show is involving someone who has bipolar disorder as mental health is shunned off in this day and age, but how Carrie manages with this on top of stressful situations identifies the struggles of being in a high profile job. I'm excited to watch more & highly recommend to anyone who needs a new T.V show to watch and get lost in.

Orange Is The New Black - After being told for the entirety of my first year of university that I looked like Alex Vause, I gave in to the hype and the "compliments" and decided to see what I was clearly not following. Ever since I've loved watching this series. Getting lost in the drama, seeing my apparent on screen twinnie and cheering on Piper when she becomes a badass. One thing that I've loved for this series is the backstory to the inmates before they were in jail, it allows us as an audience to engage and learn about the people inside the prison and see why some are hostile, how some have changed, how some have completely different beliefs etc. It's a good way to keep the viewers hooked.

The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air - An old classic. I remember being brought up watching this T.V series, it's super funny. If you love Will Smith, then watch it. He and the rest of the cast are fantastic. I can't imagine anyone else in their places. Yes, there's a lot of humour, but there are also heartfelt moments where you sit on the sofa with a blanket and cry your heart out... ok, maybe that's just me but it's so worth it. Not even sorry. I can't praise it enough, it has so much to offer even after 28 years - definitely a family favourite and can't recommend it enough!

The Big Bang Theory - Never thought I'd ever love this show. I mean, it's not really had my attention in the past it's only recently that I have been enjoying watching it, especially at work as some of my shifts are 1-1 based. Definitely a few years too late to this hype, if not longer. I find it super funny and nice to unwind after a long stressful day at work or to help your mind wander at work, happens every time. I still need to watch more as I've only watched a few episodes but it's definitely growing on me. One thing I just can't believe is that Jim Parsons who plays Sheldon Cooper is 44! I'd say he looks in his 30s at least, good-looking chap indeed. Highly recommend this to anyone.
